5.2  Support Forums

Support forums prove that you’re not alone in fighting spyware. Either that, or misery loves company.   

If you have a question regarding a spyware, adware or other problem go directly to a spyware support forum. More than likely you’ll find your answer because others have probably asked exactly the same question. If not, you’ll find someone willing to help you figure it out. 

Type in “spyware support forum” on Google and you’ll come up with many sites. Some of the best are listed below:

1.            http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/

       Bleeping Computer is a community devoted to providing free original content, consisting of computer help and tutorials. Almost everything is worded so that even the beginning computer user can understand.  

2.            http://forums.spywareinfo.com/

       This forum is for help getting rid of spyware, browser hijackers, porn dialers, thiefware, and all other unwanted advertising parasites. 

3.            http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/index.php   

      You have to register, but then you can post in the appropriate categories. Registration and assistance are free, no strings attached, no spyware imbedded.  

4.            http://www.onlinepcfix.com/overview.htm :

      Another great site to try, with many people who know what they’re doing.

In some of these forums you’ll be able to connect directly to a live expert or you can email to a group or an expert. In either case, type your problem as clearly and concisely as you can, and include any error messages you are getting.  

An expert or other knowledgeable person will generally be able to give you some possible solutions. If you are online with one of your paid programs, they may be able to access your computer directly to figure out what’s going on and what to do about it.
